Whether this difficult season for Chennai Super Kings will pass or mean the end of their era is now up for debate. CSK began the season well with a victory, but after that, they lost five games in a row. When Ruturaj Gaikwad was injured, MS Dhoni had to take over as captain once again, yet that didn’t help stop the team’s losing streak. For the first time, the team has lost five of their games at Chepauk this season, leaving them out of the playoffs for the first time in a row.
Even so, some good things have occurred throughout this time. 301 runs are attributed to Shivam Dube’s fine play as a batter, while Noor Ahmad has picked up 20 wickets as the leading bowler for Delhi. Ayush Mhatre and Rachin Ravindra have caught the eye, while the rest of the team has not been as steady and powerful as they once were. Since the team has lost key players and is unable to get high totals, their lack of depth and adaptability is clear.
Because the majority of the team are getting older and the results aren’t as good, things seem to be shifting for CSK. It is as yet unclear if they can rely on young players or if they must change more significantly. While it appears we’re wrapping up an era now, fans are curious to see if CSK can still raise their heads during the final matches and begin something fresh.
