Results from last week’s IPL matches changed the playoff picture for the 2023 season, and set up a great finish to the 2025 IPL season. RCB’s record chase vs Lucknow Super Giants bolstered by Kohli, Phil Salt, Jitesh Sharma and Mayank Agarwal made the pivotal difference. RCB now occupies second place on the table, with 19 points tied with Punjab Kings, but behind on net run rate. After a strong season, Gujarat Titans warily slid to third place (18 points), with Mumbai Indians resting comfortable with 16 points occupying the final playoff position. The playoff schedule is confirmed, Punjab Kings vs RCB in Qualifier 1, and Gujarat Titans vs Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator – both to be held in Chandigarh. The winner of Qualifier 1 advances directly to the IPL final, while the loser gets a second chance by facing the winner of the Eliminator in Qualifier 2. The IPL final can be watched on June 3rd in Ahmedabad. Last week’s high-pressure matches did what they intended, by not only providing the playoff line-up, but added more intensity to the fight for the final, with every team counted in the fight to that coveted end-of-season IPL 2025 final spot.
