Shubman Gill is leading India in preparing for the 2025 England Tour for the first time, with Rishabh Pant chosen to be his deputy. The side has selected mature players in Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj and also added youngsters like Sai Sudharsan, Karun Nair and Arshdeep Singh to face the uncertain English conditions.
Before the five-match series kicks off on June 20 at Leeds, the BCCI has made sure the players tune up in two warm-up games against England Lions in England Tour playing red-ball cricket. It is very important because recent losses to New Zealand and Australia showed that West Indies needs to practice in similar weather.
They will be playing Tests in Edgbaston, Lord’s, Old Trafford and The Oval, as this series is included in the 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle. Gautam Gambhir, who is also new to his role, will help the team as they make this change.
After Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and R Ashwin retired, the squad is now being set up to help new and young players succeed over time. Even though a few people were unhappy about how the selectors and coaches handled the transition, the team is now ready to face England with energy and new leaders.
In general, the team is ready by selecting the right squad, holding intensive matches and changing captains to face England Tour and write a new page in Test matches.
